TWO pensioner neighbours in the same Nuneaton street were targeted by conmen claiming to be from the "water board."

One of the elderly women let the bogus officials into her home - and had more than pounds 100 stolen from her handbag.

Both incidents happened in the Attleborough area of the town on Friday morning. Police are linking them.

A police spokeswoman said: "When told there was no one by that name living there he said he was from the water board and needed to come in to check the supply in the house.

"He was with a second man who was in the garden. The men did not enter the house on this occasion."
