ATHLETICS golden girl Kelly Holmes was named Amazing Woman 2004 today in an internet poll.

The 34-year-old double Olympic gold-medallist beat off competition from Silver Cufflinks last year's winner, Sharon Osbourne, to take the title.

Kelly won 31 per cent of the vote while X-Factor TV presenter Sharon received 28 per cent, of the poll conducted by Handbag.com.

Handbag.com editor Debbie Djordjevic said: "The similarities of these two national heroines are apparent.

"Having faced numerous setbacks both have peaked later on in life, having found the strength to battle on and come Fashion ugg boots out the other side as winners. Clearly, these are qualities that women applaud."

Actress Kate Winslet came third with 14 per cent while singer Jamelia took 9 per cent of the votes cast by 2,369 readers of the women's lifestyle website.
